There seems to be an epidemic of people in high places, people of authority and celebrity that come right out and tell us BOLD-FACED LIES or attempts at deception and expect to not get caught.

Are they so dumb as to believe there’s no record (or YouTube video) of what they’ve done or things they’ve said that will prove them to be a deceitful liar?

Examples:
Hillary…..she lied about her Bosnia visit.
Obama…he lied about not ever attending Rev. Wright’s sermon where racist and anti-American rants were preached.
Bill Clinton…”I never had sexual relations with that woman….”
Sen. Larry Craig’s lurid airport toilet scandal…”I am not now, nor have I ever been, a homosexual”.

The list goes on of course…

What’s up with these people, don’t they know that sooner or later, the truth will come out (but won’t necessarily set them free)?
How stupid do they think WE are?

People always say that any educated, intelligent person should always make sure they are up to date on current affairs. One should read a newspaper or watch the news each day to ensure this. Lately however, I’ve really started to feel that reading the newspaper every morning or watching the news is a big waste of time. So many of the big news stories are just the same old thing day after day and really doesn’t concern me at all. Ie. celebrity scandals, some obscure business news, the same developments in Iraq that we hear every week, etc. etc.

I really think that if I read a book or studied a project I’m working on in that same time, it would be much better spent. Newspaper articles are so often just emotional non-factual pushes, dealing with popular news rather than important, and you really don’t gain a thing from knowing about the details of so many day to day matters. If something big happens, I’ll hear about it. But all the little things I’d almost be better off without.

Yes, I agree that she is a role model and that it is wrong, but a lot of tennagers do stuff like this. If you look on like myspace teens post this stuff. They try to out sex each other. (pervs please do the girls a favor and don’t look though!) But anyways, Many girls do that. Plus many people are saying that she’s a bad influence, but look at Paris, Britney, and Lindsay. I would say that driving under the influence and hard partying is worse than a few racy pics. Anyways most 8 year old already know about sex and stuff because kids find out and it spreads. Plus 8-12 year olds already know that people post pictures and do bad things so what’s the big deal?By the time kids are ten they probably have heard about celebrity scandals. What do you think? Do you think its a big deal? Do you think she should lose her job?

Of course people will say celebrities like Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are bad role models.. .

It’s sad to see that people who I thought were good role models are actually not as good as I thought. It just takes a little researching on the net.

Are there any celebrities not associated with ::
-drinking/drugs
-plastic surgery
-harmful weight loss / being too thin in general
-nudity
-scandals
-excessive swearing
-being uptight&big-headed
-drink driving
-being hypocritical?
Like for eg Ashlee Simpson said everyone should be happy with themselves, with what they look like… she said she was happy with herself and stuff..then she goes on to get a nose job. There are so many other examples of this.

Is there a genuinely nice, sophisticated & mature person in the film/music industry? Please let me know.

I dont know why everyone thinks Hayden is a great role model. Sure, she’s better than many, but she still parties alot at clubs and stuff..i read in a newspaper she parties with a big party girl I can’t remember the name of..maybe Lily Allen or Britney or somebody. It will come to me..~
I agree with you nurmalso987 - I don’t look up to celebrities as role models because they are so unpredictable ..I’d rather make my own way to the top =] and learn from my own experiences.

I am just wondering who you think has a positive/negative influence on us~
